Piazza Vittorio explores the linguistic, affective and political complexity of one of Rome’s most layered urban spaces. Through a montage of observational images and voices gathered in the square, the work renders a sensory and poetic geography of coexistence.
The structure of the video rests on a simple question: “Can you describe this square in one word, in your language?” The answers, spoken in many languages such as Arabic, Bengali, Spanish, Italian and Chinese, form a mosaic of diasporic identities and layered memories.
